ABOUT
Wild Spirit Escapes is a newly created business, with our first cottage due to be ready by autumn 2026. We have evolved from repurposing, and successfully letting on Airbnb, a toilet block outbuilding in the garden of our former home, a converted Victorian primary school in West Wales.
During that process, we, Claire & Rob, discovered a passion for creating unique, thoughtfully designed and curated accommodation with meticulous attention to detail, and offering an exceptional experience for our guests.
With consistent 5* reviews we are now combining our skills, knowledge, and experience, to evolve our business into a holiday letting company with soul.
We specialize in couples retreats or wellbeing holidays, with a strong ethos rooted in authenticity, sustainable tourism, reconnection to nature, and slow lifestyle.
Each property is carefully chosen with our guests and the local community in mind, and renovated to a high standard, ensuring coherence with, and respect for its location and history.
Often using local textiles and materials, as well as encouraging visitors to engage with the landscape and culture of the area, we always aim to support small but high quality independent businesses who are passionate about what they offer.

We have free wifi available to keep you connected if necessary, however, we encourage guests to truly unplug, embrace slow living and reconnect with each other and nature, therefore there is no TV at the property. However, we provide a mini library, art/creative supplies, card games, and bluetooth speakers should you wish to play music.
We also have a double sit-on sea kayak for hire, if you have a roof rack to transport it to the beach.
Garden
We have peaceful private gardens surrounding the cottage, and overlooking fields, as well as a mini orchard, guests are welcome to pick fruit and herbs when in season.
{Please note that during lambing season, late Feb thru March, there will be lambs and ewes in the fields behind and opposite the cottage, they can be vocal at times, if you are particularly sensitive to noises you may wish to book later in the year}
Housekeeping & Concierge
We pride ourselves on exceptional cleanliness and are lucky to have a brilliant housekeeping team. Towels and robes are provided for use in the bathroom, beach and sauna.
A washer/dryer is available to refresh them if needed.
We can also arrange some extra experiences or services on request, we are currently working on a self-guided wine tasting box from a local vineyard. A pizza oven with dough balls and toppings provided. A pamper box with high quality, natural scrubs and massage oil etc...details TBC.
Outdoor Sauna & Fire Pit
The property has an outdoor woodfired sauna and cold plunge for an intimate private spa experience.
There is also a fire pit for relaxed evenings toasting marshmallows and star gazing.
Dining & Cooking
We are passionate foodies and have a chef in the family, so provide an exceptionally well equipped kitchen with functional equipment for anything from breakfast smoothies and BBQ's, to baking or preparing romantic gourmet meals together.
Delivery of seasonal, local fresh produce is available from our nearest farm shop, and we can recommend a local seafood delivery service.

THINGS TO DO
Watersports & Beaches
New Quay has a good RYA watersports centre offering paddleboarding, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing etc...
We have kayaks you may use, or kayak hire is also available at Llangrannog.
We are located on pristine National Trust managed coastline and have numerous beaches within 2.5 - 15 miles. from rugged 'secret beaches' only accessible on foot, long stretches of golden sand, traditional seaside fishing villages and harbours, rocky beaches and sand dunes.
Cultural Sites
Wales is rich in history and culture, a land of castles, quarries, fishing villages, mines, woolen mills, and smugglers coves, our welcome guide will detail some of our favorites.
There are castles nearby at Cardigan and Newcastle-Emlyn, with a particularly good example at Cilgerran, close to the Welsh Wildlife Centre and river Teifi..
Shopping & Wellbeing
Aberaeron and Cardigan {and Newport Pembrokeshire, a little further south of Cardigan} boast a number of lovely independent businesses, antiques shops and boutiques, as well as some fantastic cafes and restaurants.
There are also some great beachside saunas along the coast and good local beauty therapists you can pre-book.
Be You Yoga in Cardigan offers several classes most days.
Exploring the Landscape
Our property is situated on the fringe of a quiet rural village, very close to the coast, and we can recommend some beautiful coastal walks with secret beaches that are often empty or quiet. Alternatively there are some stunning landscapes inland.
Our central location in Cardigan Bay is a great base for exploring further afield, its easy to take longer day trips to Pembrokeshire, The Elan Valley, or we have even climbed Snowdon and returned home the same day!
The area has 'Dark Sky Reserve' status, we recommend star gazing from the garden on a clear night. It's incredible how many there are!
Dolphin & Wildlife Spotting
New Quay has a number of companies offering fishing or dolphin spotting boat trips. You'll often see other marine wildlife such as seals or jellyfish too.
Walking in the countryside you may spot badgers, foxes, stoats, voles, rare butterflies, rabbits and abundant bird life. We have never taken a walk where something hasn't caught our eye.
The Welsh Wildlife Centre near Cardigan is a fantastic nature reserve on the banks of the Teifi estuary, you might spot otters or kingfishers if you are lucky!
Eat Local
As passionate foodies we know all the good spots for incredible meals out, as well as great local suppliers and farm shops. You can take distillery tours, visit local cheese producers, fantastic bakeries and even a traditional flour mill. New Quay also has an incredible gelato shop with countless exquisite flavours, all made in-house with local produce.
Aberaeron appx 8 miles away has a couple of fantastic harbourside restaurants with high quality food, where you can spend the afternoon sipping cocktails and watching the boats heading in and out.
